Primary School Catering

Mealtimes in primary schools are about much more than feeding hungry children. They’re part of the rhythm of the day, giving pupils a chance to reset, recharge and build confidence. We design our catering service to support everything else your school does.

Made for younger pupils

That means fresh, balanced meals, delivered in a calm and welcoming setting by people who understand how schools work. We believe lunchtime should be something children enjoy and staff feel proud of.

Our menus are built with younger children in mind. That means age-appropriate portion sizes, subtle flavours and bright, colourful presentation that makes food more approachable. We take care to include familiar favourites while gently introducing new ingredients to expand pupils’ food knowledge and experience.

At the serving counter, children receive the meal they have pre-ordered in advance, meaning every child gets exactly what they want, making service stress free for pupils and staff. We also support those who need extra help with their food or service, working in partnership with teaching assistants and midday staff to make sure everyone is included and comfortable. From first steps into the dining hall to growing independence, we support pupils every step of the way.

Encouraging healthy routines

We believe food education starts with what’s on the plate. Our primary menus meet all School Food Standards and include high-quality seasonal produce sourced wherever possible from British farms and suppliers. We avoid unnecessary sugar, salt and processed food, and we plan menus carefully to offer variety, visual appeal and balanced nutrition. Our teams also work with schools to bring food into learning. That might include themed tasting days, simple classroom activities or links to school garden projects.

Every opportunity is used to help pupils understand and enjoy what they eat. Parents are kept informed through regular menus, allergen guidance and feedback tools that help build trust and connection between home and school.

Familiar, friendly teams

Children feel more settled when they know what to expect, and that includes who they see at lunchtime. Our school teams are consistent, reliable and trained to create a calm, friendly atmosphere. Every member of our catering staff is DBS-checked, trained in allergy management and safeguarding, and understands the importance of positive mealtime interactions. Whether helping a child open a yoghurt pot or encouraging someone to try a vegetable for the first time, our team takes their time and does it properly.

Over time, our team become familiar faces that pupils trust. That continuity means smoother transitions, happier pupils and fewer issues in the dining hall, all without placing extra pressure on your teaching staff.

Built around your day

No two primary schools are the same, so we shape our service to fit yours. We work with school leaders to understand your layout, timings, pupil needs and routines. Whether you require staggered sittings, flexible service styles or support during lunchtime clubs or wraparound care, we adjust accordingly. We can also help with school events, open days, themed curriculum activities or family tasting sessions.

Our aim is always to be part of the wider school team, not just a provider who turns up with food. We communicate clearly, respond quickly and look for practical solutions to challenges, so you can focus on everything else your school needs to deliver.

Meal accounts made simple

Our primary service includes an intuitive, white-labelled pre-order system called Cre8te. Designed specifically for younger pupils and their families, it includes award-winning allergen protection and easy integration with widely used MIS systems like ParentPay, Arbour and BromCom. The system allows parents to view menus, pre-select meals, and top up accounts online, reducing confusion and giving families confidence in what their child will eat.

For schools, Cre8te provides simple oversight of orders, dietary needs and uptake. It also helps kitchen teams manage portioning and reduce waste, saving money while improving service quality. The result is a safer, smoother meal management process from the classroom to the kitchen.
